New pictures of the new dock connector for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini have been published.
It is a lot smaller than the previous one with only 8 pins, down from 30, and comes in black or white depending on the color of the device. While this new dock connector will certainly change a lot of things in the iOS market, it is still hard to foresee the magnitude of that change. It is great news for the manufacturers and retailers of small devices as implementing the new interface should be easy and inexpensive but for those manufacturing and selling bigger and more expensive systems that take longer to renew, the situation could be a lot trickier and they probably hope that Apple will make an adapter. Given Apple's love for adapters, that shouldn't be too much to ask.
