iMac and 7" iPad in October?

Now that the new Macs have been unveiled, we start seeing many rumors about the next batch of Apple devices that should launch in October.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will launch an iPad mini with a 7" or 8" display featuring the same 1024 x 768 resolution as the first two generations of iPad, which would allow Apple to stay in the game as the market is now flooded with $199 tablets. According to other sources, it would have a Retina display...

About the new iMac, it would launch also in October according to Digitimes. Here again, there are rumors that say that there will be a Retina display and others that say the opposite.

The situation is pretty similar to what we witnessed before the launch of the new MacBook Pro. All the rumors that opposed each other about the Retina display and new design turned out to be both true since Apple launched two new 15" models. We will probably see the same with the iPad and iMac: Apple would then keep one model very similar to the current one and a high end model featuring a Retina display that would be of course more expensive but also more innovative.

It will however take some more time before the price of Retina displays and all the other components that are necessary to make them run smoothly decrease enough to allow Apple to abandon current definition displays altogether.
