Ars tested the Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter sold by Apple.

The result is identical to what we got when we ran our own tests with a maximum speed reaching around 60 MB/s, which is not bad even though there is still room before reaching the Gigabit Ethernet's limit of 100 MB/s.
On the down side, it takes a lot of processing power, as the kernel takes 37% and goes up to 70% during intensive transfers (out of a total of 400% or 800% depending on the number of cores).
It is on a side note remarkable because it is the cheapest Thunderbolt cable available, as it sells for $29, which shows that it could be possible to lower the price of all these Thunderbolt cables! (Although since it has only one Thunderbolt port, it reduces the cost)
