Bad news for all Mac users who are waiting for Intel to release the Ivy-Bridge, as it would be synonym of new MacBook Pro and iMac models. According to Digitimes, Intel has informed its customers that mass availability and shipment of Ivy-Bridge CPUs will only start in June. The official launch date is not modified, but volumes will be very smalls.
This is most likely linked to a last minute issue faced by the founder when scaling up to mass production. The Ivy-Bridge CPUs will be the first processors to be engraved at 22 nm with 3D transistors. Such delay will most likely translate into delayed announcement for new MacBook Pro and iMac models. This is also a bad new for most computer companies (maybe beside Apple) as they are all expecting the Ivy-Bridge to boost sales.
