According to Appleinsider, Apple was very interested by the demo performed by Broadcom at the CES for the new wireless format 802.11 ac, and would be working on a quick implementation in its products.

Such interest from Apple is not surprising as the company has also been involved and implementing quickly wireless technologies in its products. On paper, this new format looks very promising, being less power consumer, offering higher data transfer speed and higher resistance to interferences...
It should not be so difficult for Apple to implement this technology as only Broadcom products are currently used as wireless components in Apple products. It will require to update controller and drivers, as the remaining circuitry will remain identical.
Apple will probably try to synchronized the release of products (notebook and airport station) supporting this new wireless protocol.
