This is a first and causes a lot of talk in the PC world. Intel for the first time of its history launched a guarantee for those which overclock their processors. In substance, in exchange for twenty euros, Intel will replace the too overclockés processors that did not support the increase of frequency and especially the rise of voltage.
5 processors are concerned, Core i5-2500K, i7-2600K, i7-2700K, i7-3930K and i7-3960X. They have in common unlocked multiplying coefficients and thus specifically intended for those who want to push their PC further.
With this announcement, Intel finishes cutting grass around the feet of AMD who have difficulty of being able to fight on equal footings.
In the Mac world, this business will only be antidotal since Apple even more than Intel always blocked this kind of practice. This is probably caused by the cooling systems of Macbook Pro and the iMac are not really capable of a significant increase in thermal dissipation without becoming too hot.
