According to an analyst, 1.45 million tablets have been sold in France in 2011, with 450,000 units only for the last quarter. In less than two years, such products, the iPad leading the group, have overcome the number of computer desktop sold in France (1.24 million). The overall profit of the tablet market would be around 609 million, twice more than the one generated by the Netbook market (291 million).
Who would have thought that the iPad could in such a short time capture such a marketshare among computer devices? Yes, Apple created a new category of network-based portable device, but the figures remain impressive. It remains to be seen if Apple will be able to maintain its leadership and/or even increase further its position, considering always larger number of competitors and products released (many of them failing: HP, Dell, etc.)
