Kodak is in a very delicate situation. On the one hand it has almost finished proving in Court that Apple infringed several of its patents, which could bring a lot of money but on the other hand, it is in a critical financial situation, constantly losing money and with a worth estimated at $650 million.
Kodak now fears that another manufacturer with sufficient resources could purchase the company just to get its patents. Because of the battle that is now opposing all the electronic giants increases the value of these patents, sometimes by 50 or even 100%, and it could be even more if Apple was in desperate need of one of these patented technologies.
Kodak is therefore thinking about selling some if these patents (the company owns 1,100 of them) to the highest bidder or directly to some companies, for hopefully a value exceeding $650 million. All that money would be perfect for a new start for the company.
If Kodak starts selling those patents, we are sure that Apple will be among the bidders, preferring to purchase the patents instead of having to pay to use them afterward.
