Last week, the announcement of the difficulties linked to the replacement of the hard drive in the 2011 iMac lead to an outcry by OWC. It was probably too much as it is easy to go around the problem quite easily. However, the solution, short-circuiting some pins in the power supply of the hard drive was not very "clean". Some of our readers from Gravis, a German reseller, developed a very interesting solution.
they developed a little component, which will be able to replace the sensor inside the hard drive. it can measure the temperature and send it to the motherboard so the speed of the fan can be adjusted.
This little component called cBreeze will work with any 2009 or later model of iMac. No price has been set for now, and it should be widely available in June.
We can only congratulate them for providing everyone with an efficient solution that fast.
