Samsung unveiled a new type of RAM for mobile phones and tablets.

Manufactured using a 30 nm process, this low power consumption DDR2 works at 1066 MHz. It will be available in 1 GB chips, composed of 2 layers of memory, while 4 were used in previous generations. That way, the chips will be thinner, 0.8 mm while it was previously 1 mm. This new memory will consume 25% less than previous generations, which will increase the battery life Unlike Flash memory, RAM is constantly consuming power, even when the device is on stand-by mode.
Apple already uses Samsung memory in its devices. We would not be surprised to see one of these chips in the iPhone 5, as it would double the amount of RAM compared to the current model.
