IEEE announces new Ethernet data transfer rates, between 40 and 100 Gbits/s

For now, the Mac has a 1Gbit/s Ethernet connexion, which allows to get 100GB/s data transfer rate. According to a rumor, that we talked about a few months ago that has yet to be confirmed, The new Mac Pro could be the first computer featuring a new 10 Gbits/s Ethernet connectivity
While we are still waiting for the new Mac Pro, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) goes even further by announcing new Ethernet standards allowing data rates in a range between 40 and 100 Gbits/s, meaning between 4 and 10 GB/s. That kind of speed is useless as of today, but in a few years from now, they could become more widely used, at least by professionals.
