Here we are only a few weeks since Apple markets the MacBook Pro Core i5, with certainly a bit of delay behind the competition. However the innovating 'machine' or rather the consumption machine at Intel is still busy and they already envisage to release new models in the fourth quarter.
Thus, above the Core i5 540M 2,53 GHz that equips Macbook Pro, they will produce the Core i5 580M whose specifications are identical to those of Core i7 proposing in option a frequency of 2,66 GHz and a turbo mode able to reach the 3,33 GHz. The only small difference between this new core i5 and the i7 is the cache, 3 MB for the first and 4 MB for the second. In fact, it will be necessary to look very carefully to feel a difference in performances.
Nothing says that Apple will update its machines at this time. They will certainly prefer to await the beginning of 2011 and the new architecture Sandy Bridge that will make real improvements.
