Liquid Submersion Indicators in iPad Too

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 19/04/2010 14:34:07 CEST - Category: iPad

As expected, the iPad is also holding liquis submersion indicators (LSI), as those found in iPhoe, iPod and MacBook models. There are 2 LSI in the iPad:

The first one is located in the audio jack port. Unlike with the iPhone and iPod, it is installed much deeper, as you will need a torch or even an light-enable magnifying glass according to Apple.

The second one is new in its design as it is a line located in the dock connector on the opposite side of the pins. Its location might be an issue as many iPhone/iPod owners have been using a slightly humid cotton stab to remove the dust trapped in this opening, such procedure on the iPad will quickly make this LSI turning pink... with the subsequent effect on the warranty...

If you are or plan to use your iPad outside, it might be smart to use rubber-based protectors to close the audio jack and dock openings. They can be purchased independently but are also sometimes delivered with third-party peripherals for iPod/iPhone.
