Intel will release a cheaper SSD of 80 GB in the fourth quarter

Here an excellent news for those which want to taste the SSD while having still the means to feed oneself.
Intel announced that it would launch its first SSD containing SLC flash memory engraved in 25nm during the fourth quarters of 2010. For once, Intel will start with entry line products and will offer a X25-V disc of 80 GoB. This disc will come to replace the current model of 40 GB and its price will be around 100 euros. It is probable that the price of the new model is very close, which will make very a good deal compared to what currently exists. Of course, it will have to be seen whether the performances will increase. Currently the X25-V cannot write the data beyond 35-40 MB/s.
This choice of Intel starting with the entry line is certainly motivated by their desire to see what competition will do.  Their launch of top-of-the-range products only acted as references.
