
Elgato announced today the release of EyeTV Netstream. This easy to use small box hosts an intelligent network dual TV tuner for DVB-T, a ARM CPU, and a ethernet controller. When plugging it to your switch, all computer connected to your home network will get access to all free DVB-T channels. The video stream is encapsulated in IP packets, and decoded by computer. It behaves as a small IP-based TV server, using Eye TV as the software client (provided with EyeTV Netstream. Two people can watch and record different TV programs at the same time (as the device includes 2 tuners), you can also purchase a second EyeTV Netstream to get up to 4 different programs. This will allow many users to watch TV on their computers while they could not get proper signal quality. Eye TV software offers as usual recording and programs managements, etc.

Once more Elgato delivers a simple but efficient product to bring easy TV access to a home network, made as easy as plug and play thanks to the support of Bonjour and UPnP protocols. Elgato announced to be already working on solution to make iPhone and iPad compatible with this new product, via their dedicated App.
