Verizon To Activate VoIP On Its 3G Network

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 17/02/2010 06:00:00 CET - Category: iPhone - Source: Engadget

After AT&T, it is now its main competitor, Verizon, that announced the activation of VoIP applications on its 3G network within the next 6 months. So, for customers having subscribed an "unlimited internet package", they will then be able to call and receive call via Skype or any similar applications, for free.
In France as in most EU countries, such services remain forbidden, even if you have a full unlimited internet access on your mobile subscription plan. Indeed, this would dramatically change the economic models used by most carriers. However, it might evolve quickly and new carriers, such as Free in France, might make things moving towards VoIP on mobile networks too.
