Does Too Much Apple Kill Apple?

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 01/02/2010 00:02:00 CET - Category: Apple

You might experienced it yourself, even on any news network (radio, TV, internet,  newspapers, etc.) almost everybody is following Apple-related buzz and business. It is almost impossible to read a text or a document related to IT or consumer electronics without having a link made to Apple. Indeed, the company has attracted a lot of attention, customers first, then followed by news network after they realized that they could also benefit from it and generate visits/sales/cash by following more carefully released of products or services from Apple. Of course, for Apple it is an almost free-marketing campaign, but at the end it could act negatively on the company and its image. Many readers or visitors are getting to the saturation zone, enough of Apple products, they must be something else to talk about. To help such readers, Engadget decided to apply filters on its website in order to offer to its visitors a Apple-free version, available from the following address: http://www.engadget.com/exclude/apple/

We currently do not plan to apply the same filter, but we also act much differently than many other Mac-dedicated websites: we can criticize Apple on its products, services or decisions, and also celebrate it when something good is released. We try to remain unbiased as much as possible (this is probably the most difficult task), to be on purpose and no blinded by our love for the Mac, its OS and the community.
