One of the problem faced by Mac OS X in industrial environment is the lack of specific drivers required to control or manage different types of electronic devices, especially VME.
One of my colleagues developed a VME driver for Mac OS X and has been using it successfully for several month in a complex scientific and industrial environment (nuclear center). It offers ease of use and reliability, something not reached with similar solutions running on Windows or other systems.
