Last July, Western Digital announced the first 2,5" 1TB hard drive. It was only marketed in an external version, with a USB interface. It was elsewhere specified that there was no SATA interface.

The manufacturer finally has just announced a SATA model sold without being boxed.

The WD10TEVT spins at 5200 rpm, has 8 MB of cache and a SATA II interface. Attention, this disc has a thickness of 12,5mm. It will thus not fit in all the portables.
In short, Mac unibody can accept the discs 2,5" of 12,5 mm on the other hand, MacBook polycarbonate (before unibody) and MacBook Pro (before Unibody) do not support the discs where the thickness exceeds 9,5 mm. According to our research, this disc will be invoiced at $300 (nearly 200 Euros HT).
