This is almost official, Intel will unveil its futures mobile CPU derived from the Core series, Arrendale, on January 3rd. There will be 3 models:

  • Core i5-520M: 2 cores (4 logical cores with HT) clocked at 2.4 GHz, one core could be overclocked to 2.93 GHz with Turboboost, 3 MB of cache, associated to a 500 MHz clocked graphical unit that could be overclocked to  766 MHz.
  • Core i5-540M: 2 cores (4 logical cores with HT) clocked at 2.53 GHz, one core could be overclocked at more than 3.0 GHz with Turboboost, 3 MB of cache, associated to a 500 MHz clocked graphical unit that could be overclocked to  766 MHz.
  • Core i7-620M: 2 cores (4 logical cores with HT) clocked at 2.6 GHz, one core could be overclocked at more than 3.0 GHz with Turboboost, 4 MB of cache, associated to a graphical unit similar to the other ones.

Their TDP will be around 35 W with price ranging from 225 to 332 USD. So, the ball is now in Apple's side, as this is clearly the future CPU to be used in MacBook and MacBook Pro. Later on, Intel will offer cheaper Mobile Core i3, but also Core i7 Quad Core but without integrated graphical unit.
