iPhones Use 50% of the Worldwide 3G Mobile Network Traffic

A recent study conducted by AdMob indicates that iPhones capture 50% of the worldwide 3G network bandwidth. In addition, this figure keeps growing as it increased by 7 points during he last month. Other mobile phone OS are far behind, Symbian collecting 25% (-4% for the last month) and Android 11% (+1% for the last month). If one looks at RAIM Blackberry OS and Windows Mobile they respectively obtain 7% and 3% respectively.
If those figures illustrate the usage associated with the OS (and not necessarily the number of units being used), it demonstrates that the iPhone is definitely the true communicating mobile handheld device expected by most users. Its online services, AppStore and iTunes Store as well as all iPhone-dedicated services developed by third-parties are further increasing the bandwidth usage too.
This is of course a nightmare for carriers as the iPhone while being synonym of juicy subscription plans and increasing number of customers is also associated with the requirement to enhance and upgrade 3G network infrastructure accordingly to satisfy iPhone owners.
