Intel officially unveiled the list of new CPUs Core i3 and i5, engraved at 32-nm and dedicated to desktop computer. They all should be available in large volume in January 2010.

There are different than the Core i5 found in the iMac. First, they only have 2 cores instead of four in the iMacs. However, they sport an embedded GPU which will allow Pc manufacturers to offer entry-level computer at lower price, however one should not expect amazing 3D rendering performance for those graphical solutions. Other important point, the Core i3 do not have hyperthreading, nor turbo mode.
Apple could make use of the Core i5 to replace the Core 2 Duo Mobile found in iMac 21.5" and entry level 27" models. Performances should be improved, especially if associated with a discrete GPU. It could help Apple to reduce prices, or to offer an iMac Education at a low price tag.
