To reach such performance level, they designed specific PCI Express 16x 2.0 sporting 8 ioDrive modules. To reach such transfer speed, Fusion-IO simply needs to assemble 220 units of such cards instead of around 55,000 plate-based HDs. Each card will offer 800,000 iops, and a bandwidth of 6 GB/s for a capacity of 5 TB. Of course, only a state agency can have the financial support to invest in such system.
