Confirmation of the excellent performance of Core i5 and Core i7 iMacs

by cliveatfive . Original by Lionel - 20/11/2009 19:57:50 CET

Macworld has published a comprehensive test of the Core i5 and Core i7 iMacs. They confirms the results we have first shown, namely that these new Macs are very close in performance to the Mac Pro. The Core i7 can even be faster than the Quad and Octo-core Nehalem Mac Pro. Note, however, that in the detailed results, we suggest that this gain is largely due to accelerated disc transfer rate, associated with faster drives or a more efficient implementation of SATA II.

The fact remains that the iMac is an alternative to the Mac Pro for professionals eager for power, though less interested in the possibility of having more than one hard drive in their machines, and those who are satisfied without a matte screen.
Those who desperately want a Mac Pro will certainly be interested to wait for Apple to deliver an upgrade these machines, which should not be long in order to bring back a comfortable distance between the two machines.
