Digitimes has just confirmed rumours by announcing that Intel will release at the beginning of 2010 the Core i5 and Core i7 processors for portables. The first batch will be in 4 versions, all having a thermal envelope of 35W:

  • Core i5-520M: 2 cores running at 2,4 GHz of which one will be able to reach 2,93 GHz with the Turbo boost and accompanied by a graphic stage running at 500 MHz that also can br overclocked to 766 MHz.
  • Core i5-430M: 2 cores running at 2,26 GHz of which one will be able to reach 2,53 GHz with the Turbo boost and accompanied by a graphic stage running at 500 MHz that also can be overclocked to 766 MHz.
  • Core i3-350M: 2 cores running at 2,26 GHz without Turbo Boost with a graphic stage running at 500 MHz that can be overclocked to 667 MHz.
  • Core i3-330M: 2 cores running at 2,13 GHz without Turbo Boost with a graphic stage running at 500 MHz that can be overclocked to 667 MHz.

Ignoring the possibility of a surprise, one sees rather precisely the shape of the future range of MacBook Pro. There remains an unknown factor on the graphic part that will accompany these processors, because it is without doubt that Apple will add to its portables a dedicated video chip that is compatible Open CL.
