Intel prosecuted for unfair competition in the US

By crispin. Original by Lionel - 05/11/2009 06:00:00 CET - Category: Apple

After being condemned in Europe with a fine of 1,06 billion Euros for unfair competition, Intel will have to face a similar procedure in the United States. The public prosecutor of New York set in motion the procedure claiming that Intel blocked its main competitor, AMD.

The procedure will take a long time but it is possible that there will be a new judgment against Intel, and this could cost them more since the American antitrust laws are without pity.
Note, if Intel opened a little more with competition, one could see AMD leaving its hole, NVidia to propose new chipsets and for USB 3.0 to be in public use much earlier.
