AT&T: 3.2 Million iPhone Activated During the last Quarter

AT&T announced to have reached a new record with the iPhone during the third financial quarter. According to the company, 3.2 million iPhones have been activated, vs. 2.4 million the previous quarter. According the figures, 40% are new AT&T customers, leaving competitors to join the carrier, however, there is no data defining the number of AT&T customers who left the carrier for competitors.
Of course, such a huge number of iPhone contributed to the explosion of IP traffic faced by the carrier during the same period. REvenues generated by the iPhone-data plan increased by 34%. This is the first time that AT&T officially recognize the impact of its iPhone customers on its network hardware and infrastructure pushing them to their limits and even beyond with numerous outages.
