We can only concede that Apple unveiled major new products, without any dedicated special event. You can go back to our previous news, summarizing the new products (here)
Hereafter are our first comments before we can test those new products more in details.
- The Mac mini has now been refreshed, and without being a super competitive entry level model, it offers quite some power for the price. Apple agrees that the Mac mini can be used as a perfect home server and released a dedicated model bundles with Mac OS X Server and 2 internal HD. High performance for a low cost and a very low power consumption.
- One can complain that the new iMac still feature a 16:9 display, however, Apple released a major update for this class of hardware. The new model is sexy and available at a more aggressive price. Having the option to get a Intel Core i5 or i7 already define what would be the future of the next revision of our iMacs. Those Quad Core CPUs offers Turboboost technology and will definitely offer more raw power for SL and multithreaded applications. The high-end iMac model might fill the gap between the iMac and Mac Pro, even though some users (including myself) would have preferred a Mac Pro-type enclosure powered by the same Core i7.
- The new MacBook is also an interesting product and might seduce many students, especially those looking for a perfect gift at a reasonable for Christmas.
- Other products were also expected (Airport Extreme and Time Capsule), but we were surprised by the new Mouse, aka Magic Mouse, and its multi-touch surface. We need to have one in our hands quickly for a test.
Those new products come right on time before Christmas season and will for sure boost sales for the coming quarter. this will most likely help Apple to post new records for next Quarter reports and increase its market share in USA, and worldwide too.
