Unlike claimed in a recent article from XBits Labs, Mac Edition Vertex SSD is not faster than the standard model, al Vertex models are identical, beside the label sticked on as confirmed y OCZ. XBits Labs might have been biased during the test with a SSD already containing some information, or the TRIM or Garbage collection function could not have been used. Similarly, testing a SSD tagged "new" with another one tagged "used".
Such problem should disappear when the TRIM function will be integrated in OS. So, beside the label, there is another difference between the standard Vertex unit and the Mac Edition. No, the price is the same. The main difference is that OCZ clearly cares about Mac users and decided to fully test its products with Mac OS X in order to give enough information and certification to make Mac uses confident in purchasing without any fear such products. In addition, OCZ even opened a Mac and Linux section on its forum to bring support to its Mac customers.
