Following Palm who offer as an option an accessory to recharge the Pre without having to connect it; now it is the turn of Dell to offer this with its latest Lattitude Z. 
Offered as an option costing $199, this dock recharges the laptop placed on it. According to Dell, this mode of recharging would be as fast as a direct connection; the efficiency of this system would reach the 70% which is rather good even if that means that 30% of the power consumption is lost, without counting what is already lost at the level of the transformer.
The idea is in any case tempting even though it would certainly have been more practical if the system had taken the form of a carpet that is placed on a desk.
