Bing: The "Bling" Machine for Microsoft?

By linathael. Original by Lionel - 18/09/2009 11:01:19 CEST - Category: Internet

Over the past years, Microsoft has been facing numerous failures in new projects supposed to strengthen its positions: Vista, Yahoo!, Live search, Zune, XboX... IF the company is putting a lot of expectation in Windows 7 (it better does not fail), it seems that one of its recent new product could show the first sign of success. Indeed, Microsoft search engine, Bing, obtains encouraging performance.

Unlike Google, and its text-based presentation of search hits, Microsoft bet that better presenting the result of a search could also help users to make a choice and quickly identify what they are looking for. Recent statistics indicate that Bing is now used for 10% of the search requests performed on internet, and so captured market share from Google. The latest will most likely not remain inactive, and will fight to maintain its leadership.
