The iPhone demonstrated that one can always need more raw processing power even in a mobile device. ARM just announced a dual core CPU, aka Cortex-A9. Clocked at 2.0 GHz, with its 2 cores engraved at 40 nm and its 8 MB of cache, it will only drain 250 mW/core...
If it would be too much for the iPhone, some already think that it could perfectly fit in a Mac... Tablet. It is a potential hypothesis, even though the current rumor indicates that PE Semi now owned by Apple will provide the CPU to power the Mac Tablet. It is anyway encouraging as it indicates that ARM can offer very competitive low power CPU while asking TSMC or UMC to manufacture them.
