Some scientists successfully developed a processor working thanks to ... compressed air. Transistors are replaced by chambers and gates, and beside what you could initially thought, it works. They successfully developed CPUs with 2, 4, 6 and 8 bits, and made them running some operations.
The goal or target of such CPU remains unclear, so it is so far only a nice proof of concept.
