Following the previous announcement in June, one could have thought that Toshiba, after losing the war for blue laser DVD, would have finally decided to enter the Blu-ray market. But it does not seem to be so easy. According to the last rumors Toshiba denied previous report and refuses to comment further on Blu-ray.
Except if a true breakthrough is unveiled, Toshiba will have to follow the Blu-ray market, as the latest jumped by 91% over the first six months of 2009. Of course original figures were very low, but as the price of BD movies finally drop, customers might finally adopt this new format, together with the dramatic improvement if LCD/plasma TV. In addition, renting DVD and BD movies is also a growing market in USA, so this could also help Majors to release more titles and decrease prices.
