Toshiba Will Reactivate its NAND Flash Production

To better cross turbulences linked to the economical crisis, NAND flash manufacturers have seen prices of their products going down to record low levels. To support prices by artificially limiting the offer, they have stopped or massively reduced their production. But, this also implies that the cash flow decreases, and such decision can not last for a long time period.
Toshiba announced that it will ramp-up NAND flash production to its maximal capacity from July, to be ready to invade the market for the Back to School period in September. Competitors might fear that a massive available of new flash memory chips might bring price down the hill again. It might be the strategy followed by Toshiba to push small NAND manufacturers to bankruptcy and leaving less players on the field, which will then have a larger piece of the cake when the market will rebound.
