Apple offers via the software update panel a SMC update for some MacBook Pro powered by NVidia GeForce 8600 GT. This update modifies the way fans associated with the GPU work, trying to keep working temperature low to prevent early death of this cursed GPU. According to first report, there is not much changes regarding the noise of hte MacBook Pro.
