As usual, Barefeats posted first tests of the new (and expensive) professional NVidia graphic card, aka Quadro FX 4800.
To make it short, this card brings a real advantage with Aperture, with gain of 10 to 15% over all other tested graphic cards with Mac OS X. When challenged with other applications, it delivers similar results than a GeForce 8800 GT or a ATI Radeon HD 4870 depending if the software is mostly using Open GL instructions or not. This is the fastest card for playing WoW on Mac...
In summary, except if you are using a Pro application requiring such Quadro FX, you will most likely get very similar performance levels with a much cheaper graphic cards, or you can use he same budget to boost your mac Pro. This will remain true till Apple and NVidia sit together and finally decide to deliver true optimized drivers for such Pro-oriented and expensive card.
