As you can see here, the mother board of the iPhone is particularly crowded.

The place to put the flash memory is tight and does not allow for two chips to be placed, contrary to the iPod Touch where the telephone and GPS chips have been removed and thus there is more place. This is the reason why the memory size of the iPhone from time immemorial was lower by half than that of the iPod Touch.
The rumour implies that the next device will be offered with a maximum capacity of 32 GB. An advertisement made by Samsung is thus falls appropiate. They announced to have put in production the first chip of moviNAND engraved at 30nm and that has a capacity of 32 GB. This chip is likely to find a place in the iPhone. The moviNAND is indeed a memory specifically produced to be integrated in the mobile devices, as illustrated by an advert drawn from their site.

Apart from its capacity, the chip has the following advantages:
- A single chip contains the controller of the memory, and 8 layers of 2 GB
- Low power consumption related to the line size of the engraving. Data flows of 52 MB/s in read
- Management of its energy consumption during the sleep mode
In short, we would not be surprised to find this chip in the next model the iPhone. All will depend, of course, on the compatibility of its price with the cost constraints of Apple.
