It seems that unlocking of Mac Edition Nvidia graphic card distribution channels is actively in progress as we reported it earlier. To support ourt exclsuive report engadget published the following photo:
This is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 Mac Edition and it should be on retail shops in June. Of course only MacPro will be able to host it.
If this information properly develop and becomes facts in June, it will finaly answer our expectations. We will finally be able to choose the graphic card we want to install in our computer, and it will giv us the opportunity to upgrade those aging ones what are already isntalled in our Mac Pro. This is especially important wit hteh forthcoming snow Lwopard and GPGPU technology.
In addition, this new possibility might push some users to choose a Mac pro rather than an iMac, as they will be able to easily upgrade hardware components in the future. Apple would also benefit from such shift in hardware purchase as its margin are more important on the Mac Pro than on iMac sales.
