Whereas the computing industry is wallowing around the rocky bottom, the market of SSD disks continues to advance at forced march pace and a day does not pass without something new to advertise.
The latest is rather important. SIS, a chipmaker announced two new controllers for SSDs. They are able to support SLC or MLC memory. They will be two versions, the 815 able to control the memory on 4 channels, however more interesting is the 820 which will support 8 channels, guarantees high performances since the data can be obtained by addressing 8 chips at the same time.

Good news, this controller will also support a chip of external DRAM which will be used as a cache, which is extremely important to ensure of good performances at the time of the writing of files.
The economic crisis seems to play the part of a catalyst on this market making it very competing. At this rate, it should become affordable to the general public within a few months.
