Since a long time in the trade, some have realized that the best means of gaining more money was not to sell, but to rent. Thus, the customer is never owner of that which he uses and must indefinitely continue to pay to have the use of it.
After having proposed X versions of Vista, Microsoft will try to apply this process to data processing.
The software publisher deposited a patent in which it describes a system in which the customer would pay for the software in function not only as time passes, but also according to its use. A "Metered Pay-As-You-Go Computing Experience".
There would be of them 3 levels, Office, Game and Internet Navigation.
For once, we are almost happy that they have decided to deposit a patent. It will slow down the other manufacturers who would like to launch out in this venture.
However, there is a general tendency towards which one is conveyed, whether one wants it or not. All those which produce contents want it to belongs to them, rather than the opposite.
