Power 7: 256 GFlops

If Apple dropped IBM CPU, the company keeps developing successfully server- and cluster-dedicated CPUs. IBM unveiled the new Power 7 a true "monster" based on its specification and performance. Engraved at 45-nm, supporting up to 4 simultaneous threads, clocked at 4 GHz, it reaches 256 GFlops. In 2011, the super-computer Blue Water will be powered by 38900 of this CPU and reaches a performance level of 10 PetaFlops.
