Announced couples of hours ago, Intel will launch its first Quad-Core CPU dedicated to notebooks. A 45 nm, 3.06 GHz Core 2 Extreme mobile processor will be the flagship of 14 Centrino 2 CPUs. With a TDP of 44 W the extreme version will most likely not find its way in MacBook Pro, however, it could be installed in an iMac. Other CPUs clocked at 2.26 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 2.53 GHz with TDP around 25 W will find their way in MacBook/MacBook Pro, however it is unclear if it will come in September as a revision of the current models, or if Apple plans to delay the introduction of the Centrino 2 platform in our MacBook till January 2009.
