A method to unlock iPhones w/4.6 bootloader? UPDATE: CONFIRMED.

By crispin. Original by Lionel - 09/02/2008 23:37:52 CET - Category: Apple - Source: FrenchiPhone
Since Apple has released a new bootloader for its iPhone, it is no longer possible to unlock iPhones that have it installed, the fault that allowed this exploit has been patched.
A new method has been found. A little material is needed: a silvercard or Funcard programmable sim card. Once installed in the iPhone, the unlocking will happen with a program loaded on the sim card.
Good news: it must be possible to do the same using a reprogrammable Turbosim.
This solution is called JerrySim. Its name is derived from the cartoon Tom and Jerry using the allusion of Steve Jobs playing the cat (Tom) while the mouse (Jerry) represents those engaged in unlocking the iPhone.
We will keep you informed of any advances with this solution.
Update: Its done: a 100% software solution has been discovered. It works on the iPhones BL 4.6 delivered with the firmware 1.1.2 (go and look at frenchiphone). We advise you to wait for several days, as simple applications that can do this will become available.

UPDATE x2:
This method has been confirmed working by Hardmac Team Member Clive at Five. Clive reports that the method is fairly simple and will take 30-60 minutes to complete. The procedure utilizes this conceited software package, precisely following the readme instructions, with a few small changes (details can be found in our forums).
And as always, we remind you that HardMac takes no responsibility if your brick (or otherwise damage) your iPhone. Proceed at your own risk!
