by linathael . Original by Lionel - 15/11/2007 17:23:41 CET
Sonnet just announced a Wi-Fi 802.11n card:

this card is dedicated to MacBook, MacBook Pro, and iMac (powered by Core duo), as well as to Mac Pro and Mac mini. However, it only includes one antenna, so it will impact the range of availability of the wireless 802.11n network.
The card is priced US$129.95 or 108.48€.
If you need to know how to install such card in previous MacBook or Mac mini models, have a look at the dedicated articles: MacBook Core Duo and Mac mini

Akihabaranews published results from a survey conducted in Japan and related to operating system sales.

Powerline Network to Reach 400Mbits/s

by linathael . Original by Lionel - 15/11/2007 14:16:04 CET
Both Comtrend and DS2 have announced new adaptors able to deliver theoretical 400Mbits/s speed through powerlines, in other words a solution faster than the last Wi-Fi 802.11n.
If those theoretical transfer speed turn to be true, I will become really popular, as it will be possible to deploy quickly powerline-based wired internet network at home or in small corporate without the hassle of installing Ethernet/RJ45 cables everywhere.
Powerline internet can also be used together with wireless solutions for linking 2 wireless stations for example.
