Ultra thin 2.2'' LCD display

Sharp successfully developed a new ultra-thin LCD display dedicated to mobile devices.

The thickness of this 2.2" LCD is only 0.68mm, and it includes the panel as well as the backlighting. Its specifications should make it a strong competitor of OLED displays which are capturing increasing amount of market share:
- Resolution: 320x240
- Contrast: 2000:1
- Viewable angle: 176°.
- Responsiveness: 8ms.
Such LCD panel could end up in many mobile devices, and why not in a future revision of the iPod.
