SuperDrive Update 2.1-related Issues to Be Acknowledged?

Couple of days ago, we were mentioning problems faced by some Mac users who had applied the SuperDrive Update 2.1 to their computer. As a consequence, the SuperDrive was either fully ineffective or only marginally functional.
If Apple did not directly acknowledge the problem, it at least removed the SuperDrive Update 2.1 from the Apple Support/Download server, and the link "http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/superdrivefirmwareupdate21.html" does not work anymore.
It would have been nice to have some explanations or details about this removal. Let's hope that Apple will quickly find a way to fix the problem, or launch a program to exchange affected SuperDrive in unlucky Mac users’ computers independently of the warranty.
