After publishing frequencies of the future 45nm-engraved Penryn Xeons,
Dailytech released the price list:

Prices will be substantially similar to those of Dual Core Xeons when the Mac Pro was introduced, or the current prices of Quad Core Xeons. Without changing prices of its Mac Pro models, Apple should be able to move the entire product line to Penryn Quad Core Xeons.
Those processors should officially arrive for Q1 2008, but we can expect to see the Mac Pro revision in January, as Cupertino has always been able to secure its access to Xeon in advance to PC manufacturers.
As usual during summer, the temperature increases and cooling systems of desktop and notebook computers will be working more frequently than for the rest of the year. It is also a dark period for HD, as they do not like summer, and the failure rate usually rockets up. So, if you intend to keep your data safe, remember to back them up or clone your HD on an external storage unit (FireWire/USB2 or NAS) to have the most recent possible copy of your files in case of HD failure.
Save the world, save... your data ;)
Couple of days ago, we were mentioning problems faced by some Mac users who had applied the SuperDrive Update 2.1 to their computer. As a consequence, the SuperDrive was either fully ineffective or only marginally functional.
If Apple did not directly acknowledge the problem, it at least removed the SuperDrive Update 2.1 from the Apple Support/Download server, and the link "
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/superdrivefirmwareupdate21.html" does not work anymore.
It would have been nice to have some explanations or details about this removal. Let's hope that Apple will quickly find a way to fix the problem, or launch a program to exchange affected SuperDrive in unlucky Mac users’ computers independently of the warranty.
