Couple of weeks ago, the EU was asking main players of the online music market to provide explanations and comments about its concerns regarding monopoly and non-interoperability of online music stores. Among them Apple and the 4 main Music Majors had to send their comments to the EU by the latest yesterday. The EU was mostly criticizing Apple for not allowing European consumers to access iTunes Stores from other European countries.
Apple sent its comments at the last minute. Overall, the EU might well be playing for Apple, as Cupertino would be happy to unify iTunes Stores in Europe and drop the current country-by-country negotiation strategy.
