Real Network announced the new version of its media player born in 1995. If it is not as popular as it used to be, Real Network added a new feature in the last version: download and save video locally.
In this new version, consumers can use a single-click process to quickly download and save videos without worrying about format compatibility issues as the new RealPlayer supports most videos format, including Flash, Windows Media, QuickTime, and Real. Consumers will also be able to download multiple video simultaneously and then burn them on CD (or DVD with RealPlayer Plus) to watch them in their standalone DVD player (the "old" Video CD format used by Real being supported by most brands).
To avoid any problems with copyrights infringements, RealPlayer will not be able to download DRM-protected videos, but for Real Network the target is clearly to give access via its media player to video libraries found on YouTube or DailyMotion.
